| Pastor John D. Malzahn |
|
Pastor John D. Malzahn has had the privilege of serving God's people at Holy Trinity since 1988, first as Associate Pastor and now as Pastor. A native of Illinois, Pastor John received his undergraduate education at Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin and his Master of Divinity .degree from Luther Seminary, St. Paul Minnesota. Ordained in 1976, he served four distinctly different communities of faith in Minnesota and Indiana before his ministry at Holy Trinity. Interested in Christian cooperation across denominational lines, he has served on a variety of boards and commissions both locally and ecumenically. As a member of the Ministerium of the Indiana -Kentucky Synod, he has served the East Central Indiana Conference as Dean, as Church Wide Assembly delegate and on several committees and task forces. He is currently a member of the Conference and Synod Council. Pastor John enjoys good books, coffee and conversation, classic films, trains, travel and anything relating to his wife and marriage partner of 30 plus years, the former Elaine Nelson, especially their two adult children, Martin and Elisabeth. Son Martin is also an ELCA pastor, serving St Phillips Lutheran Church in Carmel, California, while daughter Elisabeth is a publicist for IndependentPublishers Group in Chicago. Pastor John would love to tell you a story about how the Spirit of God is alive and active in and through this beautiful congregation called Holy Trinity Lutheran Church!
